Its best to boil the wood in a large pot for an hour to kill off any critters and pest eggs that may be hitchhiking on it. That will also help to leach out most of its tannins and get it waterlogged to sink faster.

In my case, I could find a big enough pot to boil them. So I just soaked it in a water for about 2 weeks, after giving it a real good scrub. I can still see the tannins leaking out a little bit. but it cleared up after a few water change.
Also added ista anti-snail, algaexit and seachem paraguard into the mixture, btw.

Wow... I don't have such a big pot and don't have all the solutions mentioned. Looks like there are a lot of things to buy for the driftwood.
if you do not have a pot large enough for the wood.. use the lazy man technique.. not as effective as what UA proposed.
put wood on the bathroom floor. get the largest pot you have.. boil water. add large amounts of salt.
once boiling, pour the salted water over the wood. becareful not to hurt yourself
repeat above process. about 4 or 5 times. but without salt in the water. Be careful. the wood will remain hot for some time. the bath room can serve as sauna if you wish.
If nothing else, this will clean the pot as well as the wood. hahaha
I am balding but i am still young!
I've read posts of creepy crawlies hitchhiking on driftwood. Yeah its a good idea to cook/boil/poach/steam/scorch the wood to death.
Suckerfish no eat poo poo.
if your microoven is big enough, 3 minutes on high would kill almost any parasites
microwave is a good idea, heat from inside out...
Place the wood in a bucket and slosh boiling water all over it to kill of any algae or pests that are hiding in the driftwood. Also, soak the wood in the water for about 1 week and then change water before repeating again. This will remove the Tannin that might leak into the aquarium and stain your water. Most driftwood should be pre-washed so that the amount of Tannin should be sufficiently less. However, there's no guarantee that there won't be any Tannin left.
Does this make sense: ~Imperfect Past equals future tense~
If the wood are not too big, I will put them in the toilet bowl tank for a week before microwave or boiling. Same for rocks and pebbles.

I agree. Just keep flush hot water and allow it to cool and repeat. I think 3 to 4 time should be good enougb
what i did was soak in water for several days then boil it and sun it. i repeated these steps several times before using it in the tank
