water might be clear and good in your eyes... but it might not be suitable for the fishes or shrimps.
another thing to worry about is that maybe the fish is attacking the shrimps and cause them to jump out.
maybe you can lower your water level ..

If your water parameters are okay and the Co2 is at safe levels, then the fishes and shrimps jumping out could just be due to them getting spooked or chased around the tank.

You can reduce such incidences by lowering the water level so that its not too close to the brim, some fishes like to chase each other and chances are they might dart in the wrong direction and jump out of the tank.

Also consider trimming overgrown plants to reduce their height. I've observed shrimps sitting at the top of tall plants near the surface get spooked by a fish and jump out of the water, the tall stems plants act like a spring board.

Most importantly, remind everyone who walks near or does anything near the tank not to spook the fishes and shrimps. A while back i also noticed an unusual number of livestock jumping out of one of my tanks, later i discovered it due to my kid using his toy to knock on the tank everyday... he thought it was funny.

another thing you can try is to have some floating plants or add a cover to your tank..

But floating plants will suck up all the ferts from my plants and block them from the light too... Anyway I haven't had any fishes or shrimps trying to turn themselves into Ikan billis for 2 days so it's fine! I guess I shouldn't fill the water to the brim everyday.... (Even tho that looks really nice)

Will a little bit of it help prevent fishes from jumping??

You might need to have some shelter/hiding place for your shrimps. They will feel safer and hide inside if they find any threat. Shrimps are quite happy in my tank since they have lots of bushes and cave around for them to hide.

Re: First high tech planted tank corner

    Update!
Finished rescaping and planting my supposedly "iwagumi" tank. I've converted it into a river bank kinda scape.

    Flora used:
    Ludwigia super red
    Rotala Green
    Hair grass
    Monte Carlo
    Narrow leaf fern
And a stem plant that I don't know what it is... (Please help identify!!)

The stem plants are still really short so can't really see them from the front, the rocks is also only temporarily there to hold the driftwood down!
Do let me know what y'all think!

Hi, those taller stem green plant I think is Rotala NaJiaShan. The leaves are long and narrow, needle like. Rotala Green have stiff stems and the leaves are more rounded and broader.

That looks good Ryan! It would be beautiful once all things mature!
You can have some moss on the wood branches to make it look nicer!

I can imagine corydoras sniffing around the sand bank now... LOL.

It could also be rotala wallichii. . Wait till it grows further and see if it develops redish brown hue on the new growth

Re: First high tech planted tank corner

My rotala green are on the back left of my tank next to the Ludwigia! But it's too short to be seen really... Can't wait for everything to grow out and the stems to look tall and bushy!

I wanted to use Blyxa Japonica in the mid ground but looking at it now, I doubt I have the space to plant them... Also, I wanted to get moss to tie on the branches but the place I went to get my plants were out of loose moss and blyxa...

Some Anubias nana and nana petite will do well under the shade of the Java ferns. Great start!

I planted hairgrass in all the empty spots already haha. I think I might tie mosses on the lava rocks when I manage to get them!
