emmersed setup quetions

hey folks,

i have used 2 garden pots, with garden soil/clay, with clear plastic acting as a hood to keep the moisture in. the plants grown emmersed are crypts and one anubias "nana".

it recieve ambient light throughout the day (as it is in the east side of my point block) and some direct sunlight in the morning, slightly diffused by the plastic.

my questions are,

1. i notice that some of the older leaves are "burnt". Should i cut them off?

2. i was told it takes one month for them to fully convert. but do i have to water them daily to keep the moisture in the water? is "misting" necessary in the future?

3. of my crypts, only the wendtii "tropica" (i think) is giving off leaves well. the balansae and crispulate var crispulata remain puny muny in leave size. is it normal?and how long would i expect flowering?

you should try to keep the soil moist. What I did was to plant them
slightly submerged in water with some parts sticking out of the water.
Duration varies depending on species. For older/dying leaves, you can just
cut them away as you wish.

Just sharing some of my recent experience/ observation with emersed plants:

1) I used to keep my emersed Echinodorus in a covered tank that retains humidity. The leaves grow big and long. Recently I took one out to an air-con room. The new leaves sprouted were shorter and smaller.

2) Recently Lorba gave me 2 emersed Echinodorus plantlets. Both I potted but one is in the humid tank and the other one outside. The one inside started growing longer and bigger leaves.

So it looks like less humidity makes the leaf size smaller.
