That's very serious infestation of BGA! I suggest you throw the whole thing away.

More economical to replace the plants than to go through the whole episode of getting rid of the algae. the plants underneath the algae are probably already weak and damaged even if you try spot-dosing with excel or H2O2. Probably should clean the tank glass with a toothbrush or scraper to rid the green spot algae too!

Thanks. At least a lead to research on. Root cause is most likely a poor circulation of water as I am just using a hanging filter.
I will try to see how I can rectify the circulation and nitrate level.
This is serious bro...
You should do what the other member suggested or perhaps add in some stem plants (like Green Hygro - Hygrophila polysperma, or Rotala Rotundifolia sp. Green - Rotala rotundifolia sp. 'Green') to soak up all the extra nutrients; or do a dry start, which I personally experimented and it helps in managing the algae issue for my new startup.
On a side note you put that infested bunch into a small tank and start a snail tank. I think it can feed an army of snail. Perhaps after that you can rescue and recover what ever is under that BGA.

I threw away the whole clump already. Hope those small ones all over the place will die off slowly instead of growing again.
I shifted the filter outflow to the centre which I believe will improve the circulation.
As for those algae spots on the tank, wow... they are tough. It is like they have all hardened.

get a cheap L001 pleco http://www.plecoplanet.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1598
and it will finish all the algea for you...

Arghh... the BGA is back. Now on my soil. Guess I really have to restart the whole tank.
Or is there any chemical solution which I can get to add in?
Yeah! This is a really bad case of BGA infestation. You should quickly restart your tank.
Does this make sense: ~Imperfect Past equals future tense~

I guess I really have no choice...
The soil wise? Do I need to dispose them?

frankly speaking, if things start to stablise, some of these problem will automatically goes away..if you really want to reset your tank, I will advice you to thoroughly wash everything, use hot water to soak the soil , use detergent to clean your tank change your filter wool... not very sure how the soil you use will react with hot water though, if not the skip the hot water but dry the soil for few weeks then restart. Why don't you try a $2 pleco first?

I have otto in my tanks. Initially they are great. However, recently they seem to be on strike. I think they are freak out by the constant banging from my kids.
I guess I try pleco eventually.

oto don't eat this kind of algea...

my $2 pleco eat almost any algea in my tank..starve it and the tank become really clean..

pleco will definitely disturb your plants if they are big, get those smaller size ones.. I throw my big pleco in every tank to clean up my tank.. best is thpse on the tank wall.
not sure if they eat Cladophora or not.. Yamato is good algea eaters too...SAE also not bad..
I keep mine with guppies and looks fine...

Sound like pleco isn't very ideal for carpeted tank?

pleco is not ideal for planted tank actually.. but looking at TS tank pleco should be fine..
Just suck with aerator hose, bga mostly not sticky to the leaves , soil or ornament, and find and fix the root cause
