    Re: New Aquarium Tank Setup

    Hi

You have 4 different types of carpet plants, so that would be a challenge! Over time, they may look like a confused jumble as they compete and take over each others space. Some things to consider:

    - Glosso needs strong light to carpet
    - Hairgrass prefer cooler temperature so chiller or fan may be needed
    - CO2 is useful to have to help them carpet

I have similar plants in my 4 ft tank that is discussed in the Modular Aquascaping thread. Other than the Monte Carlo, none of the other plants are rooted, so it is easy to rearrange the scapre. The thread is at :

Hi there! You need Co2 to maintain the carpet or else the carpet will melt and die off. Also, since you have light demanding plants like Monte Carlo, consider increasing the light duration or buy another light. I have a 2ft tank and am using Beamswork and Green Element lights to light up my tank with Hairgrass. I use a chiller to keep the temperature at 26 Degrees Celsius. However, I feel that's not necessary in your case as you do not require so much cooling. I mainly use it to reduce algae growth.

    Re: New Aquarium Tank Setup

if you move the red plants together, remove the pagoda and do a little rearrangement to the plants, your scape should turn out well
move your nana to the rocks and wood there.. do a bit of trimming...

    Re: New Aquarium Tank Setup

    Hi Guys,

took fireblades suggestion in shifting the plants. no photos as of now. however, it has been 2 months, and my montecarlo isnt growing or improving. its yellowish. i am not sure but, could it be the lack of lights and CO2?

i need advice on the lights for 60x45x45cm tank, considering the depth and the width. feel so cheated for always taking up LFS recommendations, but end up the plants dont grow well.

    Re: New Aquarium Tank Setup

There are 2 things for monte Carlo.

    Co2 and above average light.

EVO 3W LED green element plant light should do the job well (not sure why you get the marine light), there are no need for additional T5 light

and Co2 at 1-2 bps. With morderate fertilizer.

you need to have good circulation to bring the Co2 to all the plants. Do consider a suitable canister like ehiem 2213 or equivalent for good flow rate.

or you could use a wave maker too to bump up the flow rate

    Re: New Aquarium Tank Setup

Recently after trimming my MC, my CO2 ran out... and LFS took about 1 week to have it refilled.
my MC turn brown and think have BBA growing.. after I reconnect back the CO2, I noticed that my MC is flourishing again and lesser black now, not much changes to my fertilize regiment... so I think CO2 is lacking here.
btw I am using green element light and my tank is a 2 feet tank.

    Re: New Aquarium Tank Setup

    Thanks for the advice, realcaster.

seems like, i need to sell my lights alr. feeling totally scammed, by LFS, still got the cheeks to tell me blue n white LED should do the job. now what do i do with the 3 lights that i have. sad.

    so checklist would be:
EVO 3W LED green element plant light
    Ehiem 2213
    Co2

I have a old ehiem which my father used to use it. wonder if i can still find the parts for it and if its still working.
