hmmmmm.... looks so serene. The idea of having the falling water is *thumbups*, I do enjoy listening to falling water![]()
Hey guys, firstly i'd like to say a big thanks to the mods for having this forum dedicated to the art of Vivariums.
As a start, i'm kicking it off with several pictures of my 3feet lateral setup of which i've had for almost a month or so.
The theme of which i embarked on for this particular setup was mainly a subtropical one just like the ones in the Brazilian rainforests. Something of an Eden like haven getaway for the amphibians mainly catering to those tree dwellings. A lot of issues had to be overcome for the construction of such which includes suitable pratical filtration and also the height of which the waterfall was going to be at. Also to add that humidity levels in the tank was to be kept at 70% high as there were mosses which require of such environments. Another issue i had to tackle was the distribution of the misting and also placement of the plants. Certain plants can tolerate high humidity levels but low light wherelse others require good drainage and high exposure to the light spectrum. All these were considered during the initial planning stages.
This is an overall view of the setup. Stats of the tank itself was Height: 3ft. x 1.5ft x 1.5ft. Powered by a Matrix 2x55W PL 8000k.
Another few closeups of the tank.
A side view of the tank showing the predominance of the miniature palms in the scaping.
Closing up on the moss details, bromeliad n palms. Also the outpouring waterfall.
Hope ya guys enjoy the pictures. Feel free to drop any comments and feedback. Welcome any queries also. Thanks.
Best Regards,
Phillip.![]()

Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

hmm... would be interesting to have archer fish... then any pesky insects that land on the plants above get shot down.. heh..
anyway, what kind of fish do you keep in this setup?
Well currently i've no fish as yet in this particular one, just a few red coral platies to help cycle the water. Was thinking in the context of blue lamp eyes as they're quite hardy and also "visible" to the eyes as the light does not penetrate well into the water area.
If archers were placed in it, they will soon outgrow the tank thus distorting the whole proportion factor.

Phillip.
