    Hi all,

Reference to The Green Machine scape title 'Continuity', we could see that James placed the inlet pipe in the middle and the outlet pipe on the rear right, facing towards the front.

Since this scape is using a 120cm x 30cm x 20cm tank, how can we ensure that there is enough flow/circulation going towards the left of the tank?

Here is the link to the scape:

    Thanks.

Re: How to ensure good water flow/circulation?

Looks like that filter intake and outflow pipe positioning is mainly due to the aquascape layout and tank dimensions (its a very low-profile narrow tank). There is too little space on the left or right side to place both of them properly (the substrate and hardscape is sloped up very high), so he had no other choice but to place the pipes at the only available places at the right side and middle. In such cases, its all about how you plan your aquascape layout.

Ideally both pipes should be placed together on one side with a clear flow path, so that the outflow can create a circular flow pattern across, down and then back to the intake. A high flow rate is also required for this to work too, especially in a longer 4ft tank.

If there are areas of slow or no circulation, then most people would usually add a submersible water pump or powerhead or wave maker to generate more flow in those areas.
