Hello there!
I do not have any link to plant propagation sites, but I can tell you ( if you can buy one ) that AquaJournal Vol 33 talks quite well on the issue of plant trimming.
Generally, I can try to give you a lowdown:
Stemmed plants-
MM, ludwigia
( Taken somewhat from Aquajournal, I've never kept stem plants

)
Trim mercilessly, cut in between the leaf blades, aka the stalk. If you see how Amano trims, he practically cuts away the whole plant. If you cut the stalk,
two new stems will shoot out. This way, he can make the plant bushier.
Creeping plants-
glosso, tennellus
What I do is run my hands into the lawn, pulling up any unrooted runners. I cut these runners, then proceed to thin out runners from sites I find messy. I cut at the "stalk area" too.
Rosette plants-
Java fern, crypts
Identify the leaf you want to cut, and cut as much of the leaf away as you can. You can't easily remove the entire leaf if growth is dense, so you must minimise the rotting of the left behind leaf.
Moss
Cut like hair.
If there's a particular plant you need help with, feel free to ask
