I don't think you are dosing CO2 in your tank right?

Is this clump newly bought and introduced to the tank. It's quite common to see some melting of newly introduced plant. Most of the Java ferns are grown terrestrially at the farms and when it's now grown totally immersed in tank some leaves would melt and turn brown. Just cut away the brown leaves and new ones would grow out after some time.

No worries and all the best. Do post pics to update us how your planted tank is doing. Cheers

i will! oh! i have a very impt question. is there any way to remove nitrites asap without disrupting the cycle? i have done 2 50% water changes and my nitrite is still 5.0ppm. i have the first fish coming on sunday and i fear the nitrite level will be too high

One week is generally too short time to cycle a tank am afraid. You need to give more time before introducing the fish

is there any emergency thing that i can do? sorry my error it has been 2 weeks. ive already ordered my fish and its coming on sunday. is there really nothing i can do? D:

Remove any decaying leaves/plants and do frequent partial water changes. Out of curiosity, what fish are you introducing into the tank?

im introducing a dwarf gourami first, then 10 neon tetra, 6 panda corydoras and 6 otos later on

Ok, hope your tank is big enough to take the bioload

Every inch of fish would need around 4l litres. Think your tank is just about large enough. When you introduce the fish into the tank and if the nitrite level is still high, do perform 25% water change daily and monitor.
