    Newbie tank mah ... and it's a lot worse now.

    Need to get rid of the H. zosterfolia (background) soon - I don't have time to keep on trimming these weeds every 2 weeks.

    i think the concept is there.

    what tank specifications are you having?

    also, maybe you might consider adding some wood to cover those "dark" areas, as well as give the tank some lines

    hi theodore,

    to me the tank does not lack of anything. the plants are ok and they looks healthy also. At least not dying. maybe you can share with us your tank specs so that we will be able to help you and guide you from there.

    in my eyes what you need now is trimming. just imagine if you trim those plants at the back as neat as possible, they will grow nicers and the overall tank will looks neat also. of course you need to have the basic knowledge on trimming too ...

    gd luck!

    Nevada,

    Unfortunately, trimming is a luxury I cannot afford at the moment. I'm going to find another 1-2 blocks of driftwood/rocks and replace most/all the H. zosterfolia with ferns.

    Gymnas,

    Too tedious. It's a cheap plant and you can buy them from shops for $1.5 per pot. Most shops don't stock them (not popular) but you can always order.

    Gregorsamsa,

    Size = 4x1.5x2 (ft)
    Light = 2x 150W MH
    Substrate = Horti moss (peat) and cocopeat topped with Dennerle gravel
    CO2 = 7hrs (2-9pm) using pressurised CO2 with ADA beetle diffuser
    Photoperiod = 6hrs (4-10pm)
    Temp = 26-29deg C using 2x AC fans
    Fertilization = A weird concoction of PMDD and Profito (for traces) every week or so
