Looks like just a birth deformity... not much else you can do. Its either to just keep it or cull it (to avoid passing on the deformity to future offspring).
Hi, recently I have one new fry but it has an abnormal growth at its belly. Could anyone advise what is the problem and whether anything should be done? Thanks... uploadfromtaptalk1467806606904.jpg

The growth is an underdeveloped twin that somehow got fused with the other sibling. It is not parasitic or harmful.
Thanks. I will let it grow and see how it will look like.

Such fry do grow like any normal fry. Am glad you choose not to cull it
ya I agree not to cull it. It is a blessing that it can survive. I also have some deformed fry and now only 2 or 3 of them pull through. Hope they will grow to adult size.20160622_195618.jpg
Hi David, your fry is having pretty severe deformity on its spine. Such fry are usually delivered by females with compromised health conditions. Most hobbyists would have culled such deformed fry, you are one kind soul still keeping it and maintaining its life. 2 thumbs up to you!
the females give birth to some deformed fry and some normal fry. so far I find that those deform ones do not survive long because they have greater difficulty in swimming when they grow bigger. Those normal ones are doing good.
Deformities appear most frequently in highly inbred lines. Many breeders would outcross to another line or similar strain (if you are familiar with genetics) to expand the gene pool. I wouldn't continue breeding within the same line any further.

Setup: ADA Cube Garden 45-P, Starlitz Clear 45, Eheim Aquacompact 40
Layout/Hardscape: ADA Amazonia Powder Soil, Borneowild Rutsuuddo Wood (SS Root Type)
Fauna: Apisto Trifasciata, Sundadanio Axelrodi (Blue), Yamato Shrimp
And also in old aged females, the frequency and chances of getting deformed fry are higher
The fish has grown and the twin has a red tail growing.
