    Hi everyone,

Just started into this about a month or so. Got a planted tank going and got fries for my guppies. I googled and searched the forums but haven't come across any discussion on selling to LFS.

Do LFS in Singapore have a practice of buying off home breeders like us? Say guppies at 50cts? Maybe cherry shrimp?

Its possible, especially if you have high grade guppies or shrimps which are in demand. Just check with the LFS and see if they are keen to source some stock from you. The prices they usually get from suppliers are way lower though, so do be prepared to manage your earnings expectations.

Instead of selling you may ask them if you can exchange for some items that you want instead, eg plants, livestock, food. Some of the LFS guys are quite open to such.

Normal grade guppies and platy are mass produced locally here and lfs are getting them from the farms at very low prices. Unlikely they will be willing or interested to buy your stock.

By the way Rachdanon, your guppies are doing fine now? No more mysterious overnight death after the removal of the dwarf gouramis?

    Re: Selling to LFS

@Guppendler, thanks for asking. Yup going fine. Both females have given birth. One female about 30, and the other about 15. Housing them in my own diy plastic bottle (those that you buy CNY goodies) in the community tank. Started also another 40cm tank.

I realise quality of guppies are important. These 3, the male and 3 females out survived all the others from the batch of 5 females and 5 males (of course some died by Gourami haha). They also outsurvived the 2nd batch of 5 females which were smaller and looked frail.

If successful, I'll try to breed some quality guppies that could likely sell to LFS? Its just the thrill of being able to get some returns from the hobby, not to be rich la haha.

Great to know all is well with your guppies now. And congrats on the fry.
Guppy fry are very easy to raise. If selling to lfs does not work try selling at the forum or exchange your guppy with other forum users for other stuff like plants, other fish....etc. Have fun!

Thanks @Guppendler! Yup, the LFS at Marine Parade won't take.
