They are freshwater limpets. Not harmful to livestocks. They bloomed when there's abundant uneaten food. But given time, they would die off on their own. Puffer fish may eat them. Hope this helps
Hi All,
I have noticed recently an egg/puppa (?) inside my tank and can see very small hitchhiker (?) running under grass.
May you help to ID this and is this harmful for the tank? How to get rid of it? Currently I only see some, but don't know if it is the pest and need to control further. Thank you.
In the photo: the white cells on the grass are the one I mentioned.

Thanks a lot Guppendler! That is very helpful information. If they are not harmful then I just leave them as it is. End of the day, it is the small ecosystem and small living things can thrive in there too.
Other than the one on the grass, I also saw a small little hitchhiker that run so fast under grass, too. Is that the same kind of thing or different? Might got it from the plants that I got from LFS.

No worries at all. Limpets crawl pretty slowly so the creature that you saw moving very fast cannot be limpet...and yes when you introduce new plants chances are there's some unwanted hitchhikers. Best is to quarantine and treat the plants before introducing them to your aquarium
Thanks Guppendler! Appreciate your advice!

Most welcome bro!
The small guy that moves fast could be a seed shrimp.
Wah. Thanks Zep! I have googled for the name and I think that is the one! What I read is they are harmless for the tank and appear when have much excessive food, similar to limpets.
Do you guys got issue with the seed shrimps before? Any experience to share?

I used to have a lot in my shrimp only tank. After putting in some small fishes they disappeared. Probably became snack for the fishes.
From what I read and learnt from others these guys are harmless. For your tank maybe they hide inside the hairgrass where the fishes can't reach.
Yup. They are hiding there, Zep. So I saw both shrimplets and seed shrimps grow up together. Haha!
