Are you referring to inserting an image in your post, or posting to your gallery?
For posting to your gallery, try using the standard upload option instead of the flash option.
The option is on the right hand side of the page.

I'm confused... is it 520kb or 91.7kb?

The system allows 200kb images with dimensions of 800x800 pixels.
