Why spend your hard earn $$ on leaves when you can collect them in the park??? For once, you can consider yourself doing some good to Singapore keeping the "environment" clean... hehehe..

Your $$ will be better spent on crs... no?

Bought 5 pcs of poor grade CRS at C328 yesterday to try out. This morning, 4 have died while the remaining one looks really off colour and I don't expect it to survive the day.

    What could be wrong?

They were initially extremely active swimming around the entire tank, especially like to hang on the filter sponge.

Then later, they just sit still for a long time........ then just turn over and die.

    Help.

Is the tank newly setup? Is it heavily planted? Do you use CO2? Its either ammonia or copper from the looks of things.

    Hi Peter,

Yes, the tank is newly setup for a week. But my cherries, blue & green shrimps have been very happy for the last 5 days or so. Thought the tank might be ready for CRS.

I wouldn't call it exactly heavily planted. I do have a DW with mini Taiwan and some frogbits and others.

Did a DIY CO2 for past 3 days as plants were turning yellow. But my other shrimps were alright.

Anyway to remove the ammonia & copper?

    Thanks.

If the rest of the shrimps are fine, the most probable culprit is poor acclimatization. However, I'm still leary that the nitrogen cycle might pick up due to poor startup methods.

Well, CRS is the weakest compared to other shrimps. That is my experience.

Did you acclimatised the temperature in the plastics bag of your newly CRS with your tank, before putting them into your tank?

Dunk the bag into the tank and adda cup of tank water every 15 minutes, till 1 hour. Then release the shrimps into the tank.

Anyway, my last CRS died this morning.

Sorry to hear that. Bought 7 CRS from C328 this morning. Have released them into my 2 ft tank (CRS only). Let see if anything happened to them. Will update you late tonight or tomorrow morning.

This tank currently have about 6 CRS before adding in the 7 pieces.

Did a roll call this morning. All CRS accounted for. Found one with eggs.

My tank is simple, just some taiwan moss with sponge filter. No CO2. Light is only switched on when I want to see my shrimps.

That's good news. Can let me know your water temperature? Any chiller or blower?

    Thanks.

No chiller. Just fan blower. Temperature between 25 to 26C. they are molting like crazy. So, I can assume that water perimeter is ok for them.

Hmmm... i can never get the temp down to anything close to even below 27 deg. Lowest on a cool night is 27.3 deg. How do you do it?

I just used one fan for the 2 feet tank (CRS). Even my 3 ft tank, I am using the same type of fan but I only managed to get 27C for that 3 ft tank which I keep my Cherry, tiger and bee shrimp only.

My water level is about one inch below the fan and I am not sure if that help to cool the water better but have to top up water every 2 days because of high evaporation. Hope this information help you.
