I think that will depend on your flora load also.
Usually more plants means more fish.
But I have never done a nano tank, so I am not sure if the theory holds true.

IMHO the shrimps population shouldn't overload your filter as long as you keep the tank in good condition. Of course, if your shrimps are practically covering every inch of the substrate and reminds you of Orchard Road in Singapore on weekends then you better start selling some shrimp.![]()
