Hi guys, am new here and still learning. Currently using liquid CO2 for my aquarium, moving to DIY CO2 soon. Out of curiosity, may I know what's the normal size of the CO2 tank we use locally? Do we do a one to one exchange of the CO2 tank or on the spot top up with the lfs? And how much would it normally cost for topping up? Thanks in advance bro and sis.

Re: CO2 tank top up and cost

Standard Co2 cylinders usually come in 2L, 3L or 5L sizes. Most people go for 2L cylinders for 2ft tanks, and 3L or 5L cylinders for larger tanks.

Most LFS that offer Co2 systems have a 1-to-1 exchange program. If you prefer on-the-spot refills, then have to get it done at specialist shops like BioPlast or other industrial gas companies.

Cost-wise, the 1-to-1 exchange or refill costs can vary from around $10-15 for a 2L cylinder, depending on the shop.

Thanks UA, really appreciate you take time to reply. Cost seems reasonable, probably will upgrade once I get a new bigger tank next year.
