Just curious if there's any difference compare to those from lfs. Hardware store type is like those orange or reinforced with net... I suppose mainly aesthetic?
If you are referring to flexible pressure hose, hardware stores usually stock a variety of different grades, from the highest industrial specs to ordinary household utility hoses.
For aquarium canister use, which is not too demanding in terms of pressure specification, even ordinary grade household hoses can meet the requirement.

There is a difference , the original eheim hose do not leech out certain compound into the water , from what I read before , I do not know whether its true or marketing gimmick . But there are folks who used them ( other type of hose ) before with no adverse effect so in this instance , your mileage may vary .

Ya, I mean those household hoses. Good point about chemical leeching, but I don't think it will be significant to affect live stock too. Thanks guys.

Not to concern about leeching but the first issue you might face is the tube thickness.
Aquarium ones that we used is usually 12/16mm, those braided one it might not be the same.
Therefore some equiptments like double tap and such will have a bit more difficulty.
