A great start, blueray.
But you seems to have too many cardinals? One key factor to keep a tank non-messy, is to have just-enough fishes.
For a 3footer, i recommend only 30 cardinals.

Mine second effort on planted tank. First one was a total mess cos never really find out what really needed. This time round really spent more time and $$. Now just left with getting a CO2 tank only. Existing are DIY CO2.
I personally feel that even though is better than the 1st one that I setup up, it still need somemore major change. I do find that the plant at the back need to change. It do look nice when it is growing well but it is growing too fast. Almost every 2 weeks, I will need to make some trimming.
Please feel free to comment. Thanks.

Agreed with Roland, try not to have too heavy a bio-load in planted tanks!

Though so myself...had about 100 cardinals excluding another 20 other species

now then i realise, got many other fishes.
Well, no worries. I had more then you when i first started.
All kinds of fishes and plants, total probably > 80 species.
Look at my first tank!

Guess when 1st started, everyone have the idea of getting more fishes rather than plantsanyway....was considering setting up another tank and might consider moving half of it over
