Some advice on this tank dimension?

Plan to custom made my 3rd tank, the dimension : 24" (L) x 15"(H) x 7"(W). The intention is to grow plants and a few apple snail & some shrimps.

1) How heavy this tank going to be?
2) Whether this size is good presentation or should I increase the height to 18"?
3) Would the width of 7" off-balance easily?

Odd choice of width. I'll say you'll have a challenge with the scaping.

1) The water alone will weigh just under 40kg.
2) Depends on where you are going to put it, but at the moment the L and H seems ok.
3) Possibly, if someone (like a small child) tries to climb up by holding the top of the tank. Other then that, I dare not speculate...

Much appreicated for your comments. I would make this tank and perhaps increase the height to 18"(H). So the final dimension would be 24"(L) x 18"(H) x 8"(W) with 18W lighting. Thanks again!

if you can secure the tank, do it.
the tank may topple if the building you are staying in starts to sway in the right direction.

8" width will limit the choice of plants you can use. I guess you design this tank size to suit your furnishings.

What about the lighting? Will it leave room for ventilation or attaching a fan? If you raise it higher, will it reduce the light reaching the bottom?

That's right, the design of 8" width to go with my interior decor. The lighting probably 18W and plan to grow simple mosses and keep some shrimps & apple snails and absolutely no fishes, should be okay, I think?? For the fan, can I use the ventilating Fan (12W) as attached photo to cool the temp? Would ventilating fan effective?

Hope someone can give me a pointer.
For Ventialting Fan (as photo), a small size 15.4 x 15.4cm which I plan to use to cool the tank temp. The question is which side of the fan should face the water, Side A or Side B?
If based on ventialting principle, the Side A should face the water to suck the 'hot' from the water surface so it will directly help to cool the water???

You should place the fan so it blows across the surface of the water.

Is there a threat somewhere that show the formula to calculate the weight of the water for a tank?

No, there are no threats in AQ... we don't threathen people around here.

But I can show you how to calculate weight of water. We used to have a online calculator, but have not port it over yet.

Instructions:
- Take the L, H and W in cm and multiply them together.
- Divide it by 1000 and you get the weight of water in litres.
- The weight of water in kg is the same as the number litres (because density of water is 1kg/l).

From your original dimensions,
LxWxH
= 24" x 15" x 7"
= 60cm x 37.5cm x 17.5cm (1" approx = 2.5cm)
= 39375 cubic cm
= 39.375 litres

Given, that density of pure water is 1kg/l, the weight of the water is approxmately 39.375kg.
