    Is the Barclaya Longifolia. The buds never bloom. It just break off at the stem after sometime.

    Can anyone give any suggession?

    Yes, that is Barclaya longifolia. Mine is still small so can't help you.

    Its Barclaya longifolia red. You need very soft water and a good substrate for it to grow well...and eventually flower... But if you just want to see it's flower...then grow it emmersed... much easier then.

    Many thanks for the replies.

    I will try it emerged. I got to confess that I trimmed off some leaves as it was getting crowded. This plant is very huge and is not suitable for the 2.5 ft tank.

    Barclaya longifolia is a full aquatic plant. It cannot grow out of water. Maybe gchoo means to let the flower stalk grow out of the water...

    Maybe it is good news that it did not bloom. Barclaya longifolia usually go into the dormant state after flowering. It will shed all the leaves. Some forumer ever experienced it dying off after flowering.
