Personally I never use copper sulfate before.
IMO, correct lighting, CO2 levels and nutrient balance is the important in controlling algae outbreaks. Only in extreme circumstances do I use hygrogen peroxide.

Here are a few good threads in the Fertilisation and Algae section--

and the last one on hygrogen peroxide

Do a search on the fertilisation and algae section, I'm sure you'll find lots of useful information there to tackle the algae problem.

    moss algae trouble

Hi guys, the algae is only at the top of the tank. See I have a large piece of driftwood and the moss is attached to it. The part of the moss on the driftwood that is closest to the light gets lots of algae. It looks like long, thin, green hair strands. The parts of the wood and moss furthest away from the light are not bad. What do you think about that? Should I just take off the moss? I have two plecos who take care of any other algae issues, but they dont mess with this hairy stuff. Shrimp eat hair?
    You guys are cool!

Since it's minor, why don't you remove as much of it physically as possible. Any remainer, if it's a sore eye to you, just use a dropper or syringe and zap it with teeny amount of hydrogen peroxide, and watch it disintergrate before your eyes.
