I used my previous 2ft tank for 1.5 years and it just crack in the middle for no good reason. Water starts leaking out till it's below the crack line.

Think normally the tank will not just explode and collapse unless it is hit by a hard object.

So look for warning signs like hairline crack and leaks. Sure signs to change your tank!

I had a 2.5 by 1.5 by 2 ft braceless tank which was with the family for more than seventeen years, except for a few scratches, tank was still in very good condition.

I think it boils down too how the tank is being used and off course the skill of the makers.

the build quality as well as the tank construction play a big part. however, there is no guarantees.
there are cases of tanks bursting without any symptoms. not many reported cases, though. just enjoy your hobby and don't worry too much.
