Just note that if u are looking specifically for wood shrimps, Seaview does not have them.
& if u ask them about wood shrimp they won't know what you are talking about, they call them mountain shrimps over there.
Found that out when i was on the hunt for wood shrimps some months ago.
The uncle (with perm hair) was giving me weird looks when I ask if they had them, after I described then he told me I was calling them by wrong name. haha
Said they had time last time but not now.

As per squee's address, NA is in balestier, so u have to walk away from Novena area quite a bit to get there.
NA's neighbour (colourful) does sell shrimps but not wood shrimps the last time I popped by.

    Good luck

Cool =) thanks for all the help guys.
    A woodshrimp looks like... erm...

    ok take a ghost shrimp
    colour it wood/shit brown
shorten the keel on it's head(horn-like thing)
    Imagine feathers instead of pincers
And it's huge, like 4-5cm full grown.

By the way, does anyone have any idea what conditions are best for them?

Had tried Wood/Singapore shrimps a couple of times in the past but they never seems to survive more than 2 month. Not sure of the cause but at that time, suspect that they could not get enuf food as I am using a canister plus fluidized bed filter for my 2 ft tank. Clear water all the time. Now also suspect that the temp was too high as I had not install fans for my tank at that time. Temperature can go up to 31C on hot days. Currently I have fans installed and temp is kept around 26-27C consistently. Tempted to try wood shrimps again, but still wonder if they can get enuf to eat. Any ideas. Thanks.

I'm sorta hoping they can replace my filter... I'm actually using a really tiny handphone sized one for an ecosystem tank(2ft) seems to do the job though it keeps sucking up the baby worms/snails Yes , it's a crazy idea but you know
As for temprature, I'd imagine since they're native to singapore it shouldn't bother them too much... But then again 31 is a little extreme... mine never goes above 28

Use to use a overhead filter that comes with the tank. The media always gets clogged up and the water began to bypass it. Then at a latter stage, it even overflows from the back. As a result of bypass, filtration was bad and test always shows some ammonia and nitrate. Tried adding on of those internal filter and it leak electricity after some time. Got fedup and decided to use a canister. But made a mistake by buying the smallest size, found biological filtration still insufficient so added in FBF. And it was perfect since. Other than the wood shrimps, most fishes seems to live longer, in fact, most of them are over 2 to 3 years in the tank already.

Sorry for the largely off topic post.

I had some wood shrimps for a few months now. Seems to be thriving well even though my tank temp is around 30C. There's no need to specifically feed them. Seems to be able to get food even though my water is clear. Using a eheim 2215 filter.

I have kept mine for about 2 years and they have really grown. Recently, I saw some that were 4 inches long!!! Anybody seen these large ones around?

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Hey guys , got the woods last week , they're doing alright as far as i can tell... except are their legs supposed to have a coat of white "hair" on it? I'm not talking about their filtering arms , just the legs they use to walk around.
