Do you need to remove the plants from the metal mesh?
A lady from a shop at C328 told me I don't have to remove the plants from the mesh.

was it a carpet plant? Did it spread?

Also, I saw a 3x2 HC (no mesh) but with long roots, do you think it's okay to just put it on top of the soil without separating it into small clumps?

For HC, it is better to bury their roots in the soil, if not they have a very high chance to melt (wither)

it's really up to you. If the plant is already established on the wood, then i won't remove it to avoid unnecessary shock. Being tied to the wood is also easier to plant in to your substrate.

or you can just buy the plants sold in loose pieces or baskets
