I just brought 20 yamato (thur) and 25 cherry (yesterday). All the shrimps die overnite. The shrimp are for my 1 ft office tank so I did not tranfers them to my home tank as it would be difficult to catch them. So I transfer than into a container with air pump in occasionally. The container was wash before used. No additional water is add so the water chemitry did not change much.

    1) Should I just leave the in the plastic bag until I transfer them to the office?
    2) How long can the shrimps survice in the bag? This could be a stupid Qns as the shrimp can survice through the delivery and time in the shop without dying.
    3) Could it be due to the ammonia produce by the tiny shrimps that kill them?
The yamoto and cherry are house in different containers.
    4) what should be the best way to handle the shrimp if like my case I have to wait around 2 days before I can transfer the shrimp to their home.

    Regardsl

uhmm, is this your first time trying shrimps? From what I understand, it seems that you know shrimps pretty well also. You directly used the water from the bag to house the shrimps. You aerated the waters.

Maybe it is the temperatures, but yamatos could have survived. It could be the container, but I am sure you would used a clean one.

    1) Should I just leave the in the plastic bag until I transfer them to the office? < They can stay in the bag for a day or two. Any longer than that, you will suffer casualties.>

The yamoto and cherry are house in different containers. < I doubt so, the bioload of shrimps shouldn't kill them at such drastic rates >

    Cheers,

thanks, I also think that the best way is to buy, condition & transfer them in.
Just finding out what bros here do if they are unable to put the shrimps in immediately after they buy.

    here is what i did

use my medium size plastic tank with pink lid!!

First I condition the new shrimps to my home tank water.
After that, I put in some moss/leave etc to my medium size plastic tank.
I then fill up the medium tank with my tank water.
After which, I transferred all the shrimps into the medium tank.
I then submered the whole plastic tank into my home tank.

Three days later, no casualty. Took out the whole tank, bag shrimps and bring to office quickly for re-conditioning to office tank

    Hope this helps

    Regards
    Robin
