so i changed completely to minimally planted . waiting for the rotala to grow and form a hanging root system then see whether to leave it or move it

The hanging Plant should be placed above with only the roots in the water if you plan on doing such a setup.. that way, the plant will have unlimited supply to co2. I think if you put your plant so high its only inviting algae to grow on them if you don't provide enough co2. Just my 2 cents.
