Are you using aquasoil underneath the sand? Or the garden soil? It will be wasted if it's aquasoil, as it's difficult to separate the two when you rescape.

No. It looks like it but its because the sand is so compact under the water pressure that the water doesn't penetrate that far down neither does the light. I actually changed this setup already. The center pieces are the same but I removed the monte Carlo all of it died (my mistake) and spread out the S. repens more. I also added a A. reinikii "Cardenalis" and a banana plant. Let me know if you have any suggestions.
