If I've to provide my own glass panels (10mm thickness) to tank maker to make 2ft cube tank. What will be the exact size for all the 5 pieces of glass? (2 sides + 2 sides + 1 bottom). The size need to be exact.

Also, exact what is Diamond Edge?? (so minimal silicone in the corners?)

Whether it worth it to have Starphire glass tank, if to pay double the price as compared with normal float glass and all the trouble?

To make a 2ft cube tank (10mm glass thickness), need 5 panel of glass. I estimated for each panel, the size should be:
    2 x side glass = (2ft - 10mm) x 2ft
    2 x side glass = (2ft - 10mm) x (2ft - 20mm)
    1 x base glass = 2ft x 2ft
Put 5 pieces together, it will make a perfect 2ft cube tank. Correct?

I think this size is usually customized as it's not a common ready made item. As for Starphire glass, its more than double the cost. Usually not worth it for most folks. For marine hobbyist, the clarity reallly makes a different when appreciating their corals especially when they are using 10000K to 20000K lights. For planted hobbyist, the tint from 3500K to 8000K lights negates the impact as well as the brownish tint caused by the driftwood.

Diamond polish refers to a type of finishing that has the end of the glass looking extremely smooth and reflective, very much like the front of the glass pane. This is usually done by machine. Chamfered edge would mean the the edge of the glass is also cut at 45 degrees, creating an angle to prevent sharp edges. Usually seen on better finished tanks.

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

I checked the Starphire glass in Singapore is about S$90 (1m x 1m x 10mm) per panel. For this size, it can be cut into 9 pieces of 1ft x 1ft (approx. S$10).

If someone wants to make a 1ft cube tank, you need 4 panel of this glass for the side and bottom 1 original float glass. So, the material cost is about S$40 (local tank mfrs fee is not too costly, guessing?) It seems okay for a Starphire glass tank. It will definitely make a different if the tank is against the backdrop of open space, it's very clear. I think..

Yes, already custom made a teakwood stand which would be in by end May 2005. After than, we proceed to make a 2ft cube tank. Two options: 1) To make from CR, the quality is good or 2) buy the Starphire glass and supplies to fish-tank mft. The different btw these options is option (2) is double the price of option (1).
