Don't think anyone knows the answer to that...![]()
Popular ones are: cherry, bee, tiger, green neon, blue, malayan, mountain, rocket/mosquito/red nose, yamatos
Exotic ones are: crystal red, diamonds, bumble bee, ninja, 3 spotted?, pearls, red neon? and others that I don't know of.
Someone beat me to the listing as I was typing this![]()

ive got a prob manz hope u guys can help
ive been keeping an all shrimp only tank for a month now and recently i intoduced bee shrimps. problem is all of them died within 2 days why is tat so??
what are their requirements
ive had malaysian amano and cherry in that tank also no casualties so far
those bees were only happy to break the tank record....
For your info, bees are amongst the harddest specie of shrimp to keep. It is no surprise that you can keep malayans, yamatos and cherry well but fail in bees. BTw, there are no such thing as malaysian amanos...all yamatoes(amanos) are japanese, I believe they will be greatly insulted if you call them malaysians.
If you succeed with Bees, you earn a shrimp head on your cap. This will certify you on your shrimpmanship that is recognised and held in high esteem all over shrimpland. It took a while for me to keep them successfully (I have a shrimp head on my cap now).![]()
One of the best tool you have to use is to get the catappa leaves. This leave has some magical "keep shrimp happy" property. When the shrimps are happy, they don't think of dying so soon. The ingredient in the leaf is a closely guarded secret, hence I cannot tell you. Try this and very soon you will be spending good money on rotting leaves people collect by the side of the road.
how many species? obviously no one knows since so many are undescribed and undiscovered. in southeastern China there are around 150 species of known shrimps in the Caridina group alone.
why I don't do garden hybrids and aquarium strains: natural species is a history of Nature, while hybrids are just the whims of Man.
