Just bought a 3.5L cylinder with a Sunwell solenoid from NA. After some testing with soap water, it seems that there are 2 tiny holes on the solenoid that are leaking gas. But the 2 holes do not seem to be defects, they are shown on the pictures below, barely visible.

Any owners of this solenoid can verify that the hole serves a purpose(like preventing explosions) and it should be leaking?

I was told to test the setup by filling solenoid with gas by opening the cylinder valve, then close it, then let it sit and observe for drop in 1st gauge's measurement. The measurement did indeed drop until it reaches 0 after a while.

Is my solenoid faulty? Should i seal the 2 holes?

    me too!

    Hi Bro,

I bought it from NA with the same brand like u have. at first I follow thier instruction and tested it no problem at all.

After I install the split valve to support 2 bubble counter than I test it again and within 1 hrs the meter bar drop to 0.

I tested it with soap and didn't find any leak (except the 2 small hole u pointed) and it start my nightmare cause I actually wait up at 3am to do a lot of testing including using white tape for every part than can be open.

After 3 days I really mad and decide to bring the solenoid to NA and Mr. chan did a testing by install the solenoid and open the gas than close it and up side down the solenoid with CO2 tank than put it into tank, I see a lot of bubble come out from 1 of the hole....he open the cover and put some gris on the ring but fail again. So end up replace the solenoid with another solenoid which pressure meter spoilted..than my problem solved.

So my suggestion is bring back the solenoid for Mr. Chan to replace without charging u $$. I think sooner he won't sell this brand again cause too many problem ...

Thanks bro! I think this is what i needed to know. So i guess the 2 holes arent suppose to be leaking at all. Thanks so much, i'll make a trip back to NA tomorrow.

the 'solenoid' that you have been referring to is in fact the pressure regulator.
to test for leakage, open the cylinder main valve to let co2 flow into the regulator. shut off the main valve to stop co2 flow. if there is no leakage, the pressure in the regulator will remain constant.
