I have already DIY my 4 ft and 2 ft lights to HO T5 some time back. Plant growth is really good. My 2 ft light with 2x24Watt T5 look brighter than 2x36Watt PL(maybe the PL is old). The amount of heat is more or less the same as PL.

Looking at the cost point of view, it will be cheaper to start off with MH. my retrofit cost me around $300+, I could get 2x150watt MH for that price

The only issue that concern me for MH light, is the heat which generated, it too much for local weather and need a chiller if not the water will be boiling. As for the T5, PC fans should be okay. Therefore, thinking to buy 3 x 24Watt T5 with casing from NA (~ S$120).

Below S$100 will be good, hehehe.. The replacement of T5 is only S$10 per tube.
The first thing you notice is T5 tube is very 'slim' and one standard light casing can house 3 T5 tubes as compared to normal PL is 2 tubes.

Yep...good for all. For a start, will buy a 2ft light casing with 3 x T5 tube for the cube tank to experience the technology.
