Help!! My hairgrass is turning slight brown

Hi,

I am doing dry start method with my dwarf hairgrass. It’s been almost 5 days and there’s some browning on the leave blades. Have the following specs:

nano tank 20cm (W) x 20cm (L) x 25cm (H)
sunsun AD 150
Couple of root tabs
using some fish tank water (from a different tank which had been dosed with iron + co2)
Gex soil mix with small white gravel

Is this due to little light? Or ??
Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Never used Sunsun LED before, not sure if it's good.

If already using new GEX soil, then no need root tabs till a later date.

5 days is a relatively short time to start worrying, especially for dry start. Leave it as it is if the hair grass is bought from LFS in emmersed form. You have another 30-40 days more to go before flooding the tank.

Make sure to mist the tank twice a day and seal 95% of the top of the tank, leaving a small gap.

Thanks torque6 for the reply! Since the gex soil is few months old and have used in a different tank so I figured ‘d help with some root tabs. Noted on the misting. Also went to purchased a 2nd hand chihiros A series led light do I need to lower the intensity of the light? Currently, it’s set to about 50%. Thanks again! ��

level 3 to 4 is fine. 5-7 gets very hot. Can use the chihiros LED together with the Sunsun.
