    Hi,

Sorry about the first post. File was too large to go through. So I have to resize it. Now it's in! Thanks!

My first impression is tank has too much fish. Maybe the plants has not grown in yet. The rocks are very nice.

What's the background plant? Do you intend to have a wall of such plants that can reach the top? If so can try some species of Vallesneria or B.aubertii. These are available at Teo Farm.

    Hi,

Thanks for your comments. I think so too. When I started this a year ago I thought more tetras the better. But now I think I need only about 30 will do. The red blood platty multiply from my initial 3 I bought.

Bought the rocks from NA. M not too sure fo the name for my background plants.

I have about 140 cardinals tetras and more than 30 platties! Not forgetting many many cherry shrimps!

I know. I know my tank is grossly over populated! I want to reduce them. Anybody wants? For a token sum.

    Hi,

Actually my initial aim is to create a landscape has the effect of 'time stand still' when you look, tetras swimming slowly and freely in crystal clear water to relieve stress.

Instead, now it's too messy and I get more stressed when I see the tank!! Though it's quite a sight during feeding time...Eventually, I hope to keep just the cardinals, in about 30 numbers or less to achieve the above effect. Any comments?

Here's my take, but it's based on my personal feelings

Your rocks are very nice, but the rightmost set of rocks (the focal point) is too offcentred. I'd bring it to where the lightest-coloured rock is now. The rocks previously on that area can be rearranged. You might also want to adjust the position of the rocks to the front, or more to the back, to create the sense of depth.

For the time-stood-still look, I don't know if the plants you have right now will produce that look, but I've seen success with stemmed plants, like MM grown at the back, trimmed to look like hills.

About your fish, lesser cardinals will be better imho, because I feel a small school swimming together is better than a large school that doesn't have any space to actually "cruise" around the tank. In fact, I'd not try cardinals for this setup, because your rocks are too small/your cardinals are too big, thus making the setup look small. Get some fast-swimming smaller fish of the Rasbora family instead, preferably dull-coloured so that they add to the tranquil feel that you want. Ever seen the tank by the doorway in the LFS Gratiola? That's what I call tranquil.

    Just two cents

The plant on the foreground is java moss. Thankfully, the growth is lush and thick now, the way I like it.

    Hi

Err yes, I bought those rock features from him, that's why it looks like one of his tank.

So far, I have not encounter the problem of too much shit inside the moss. Maybe because I cannot see them, so therefore I pretend it's not there, saving me the trouble of hunting them out. Also maybe could be because I have many many cherry shrimps living among the moss, they eat the droppings up b4 i could see them!

Now I just introduce a belt of red stem plants for the background. Hopefully they turn out well, then I post the picture here, or else malu to show leh.

I think the tank will look great once it matures.

Is the tank cycled, I'm just a little concern about the bioload (esp if the tank is not cycled yet)

    Just my two cents' worth.

    Hi,

Since I first posted my tank photo, I had made some major changes. So here's the photos! The java moss has grown quite a bit, I have reduced 150+ cardinals to just about 30+, and removed almost all my red patties (to control algae growth but mainly the "messiness" ), and also change my background plants .

Please give your comments, good or bad.

    My personal opinion:
I preferred your first setup with the stones, gives it a more natural and interesting look. Though I also like the red plants (sorry newbie, still learn plant names) in your new setup, it does not give the same effect as the stones. Maybe you can add some DW to break the 2 straight lines formed by the plants? Just my thoughts...
    Cheers,
    Joe

If mosses only take up 10-15% of the plant population, the outlet pipe angled towards the mosses will prevent the dirt and waste from trapping up. Increasing the flow rate could be one option.

    Very nice moss!

But... the line of red plants totally cannot do. (Unless you like it of course!) But generally red plants are the focal point of a scape, so use sparingly. Take the whole lot and bunch them together behind your biggest rock. Fill up the empty spaces with Rotala sp green or something.

Notice how insignificant the rocks are now with all the red plants?
