I Guess 608 Yishun fish store I had confirmed they did not know how to really spot is a male or female.
Went there few times saw A. Caca and knew few traits of male caca but becoz it’s small in size, they told me is female. But some clearly seems like male which after I question them more they couldn’t give me a confident answer.

    Re: Sexing my apisto caca

Most LFS do not know much about apistos. e.g. I have seen Seaview putting 2 different species of apistos as a pair. In all fairness, the sneaker male phenomenon is kind of prevalent. The old adage of females having blacker ventrals does not seem to hold true for sneaker makes. For many species such as caca & Hoignei, the yellowness of the fish is also not a shoo-in for sexing. I currently have Hoignei in which the male (I think) is more yellow than the female. The only sure way to sex most apistos is to see the mature fish - in which case, the males should be significantly larger & have fuller dorsals & caudals, often with extensions.
