    > Presence of snails, which I ignore.

From what I observe over the 6 months, the leaves turn from green to yellow to brown to disintegrated.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Do let me know if you require additional information :-)

Looks like the your plants have some nutrients deficiency and/or leaves have been transforming from emersed to submersed condition. The old leaves which was in emersed condition gonna melt if it cannot adapt well to the under water condition, especially lacking of CO2, even though Anubias and Java ferns are relatively low maintenance.

My advice is to dose a bit more fertilizers, add in some carbon source (CO2, liquid carbon) and clean the tank thoroughly. Lighting period can increase to 7-8hrs per day too.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi jackychun,

Thank you for your input! Never knew about the emersed-submersed issue until now. Will try out your advice and see how it goes :-)

You are welcome! And ya, most of the plants selling at LFS are in emersed form, especially Anubias/Ferns.
Give it sometimes, be patient, it will be lush in time.
