Hi guys, I bought 10 lampeye killifish to add to my tank, they're doing great but they tend to nip the fins of the (older and larger) harlequin rasboras. The 5 harlequins are getting old and can't get away, so they're pretty stressed out. The lampeyes have a lot of good shelter and are fed well, so I'm not sure what the problem is. The tank is 60x30x45, and is well planted.

Tbh I feel really guilty cause I thought lampeyes were placid tankmates. If this goes on I might lose the rasboras to stress and disease.

What do you guys suggest? Should I get more lampeyes or perhaps even some young harlequins to diffuse the aggression? Any other things I can do? Sadly I do not have any spare tanks on hand.

Picture of your tank will help.

Most will suggest to give away either fish.

Hi, a picture of my tank (in its prime, before the lampeyes) is as attached. Is there anything specific we're looking for here?

If we need a better picture I'll get one tomorrow when the lights are on.

Tank might be too small for swimming. Lampeye are the same as piranha, they are kind of territorial. That might be the reasonthey attack

I observed them over the weekend and the aggression has gone down somewhat, I'm not sure why.

I definitely see your point about the swimming space. Maybe I was too complacent because I've never had this problem before and lampeyes seemed like nano fish to me. I'm not sure if pruning the overgrown plants will give them more swimming space but I think the effect would be small.

I will keep an eye on them for one more week. If any more incidents I will return them to the store then. Thank you for your advice!
