As long as it does not dry out, it will have a high chance of survival when re-introduced to the tank. I have had one that jumped and crawled across the room. Probably a good 30 to 40 mins. No problem.

hi, wondering the above..
coz a colleague found one of my yamato crawling about on carpeted floor, 10meters away from the tank. no idea how long it's been out adventuring.
i scoop it up and put it back into the tank, seems still surviving.
its spine has turned all black though..
my planted tank is a small 12\"x7\"x10\"(height)

Yup, same here, I had one out of my tank for more than an hour before I discovered it. Put it back, swimming as usual.

just this sunday, I had my yamato jump out of my tank also. only problem I find is when it is on the floor, it is hard to pick them up. had a hard time scooping the fellow up from the floor. wonder how u all manage? bare hand or?
