50% water change, off light for a few day , and remove the algae by hand will help to reduce the algae.
Best if you have RO/Di water. A lot of the unnecessary stuff is actually from ur water source as well.

Lights off will NOT kill this algae. It's properties resembles both algae and bacteria.
Mulm and waste accumulation on substrate is the main cause.
Use Hydrogen Peroxide, H2O2, to spot kill this bacteria/algae. Google for dosage to use H2O2 treatment based on water volume.
Clean your tank substrate first by vaccuming as much mulm and waste. Clean your filter too. Only than spot treat with H2O2. Maintain your tank and it will not outbreak again.
But to fully eliminate you can use erythromycin.
erythromycin will kill cyanobacteria in your tank.
BUT also will kill your filter beneficial bacteria.
You decide if you want to eliminate it entirely or can live with outbreaks.
Most LFS sells erythromycin under API brand. It's actually an antibiotic.
