Yes , keep in odd numbers to disperse the aggression but be mindful that there always be one that will get bullied .
Anyone has experience with climbing perches (ikan puyu/ ikan betok)?
I'm keeping a pair (one silver, one golden in color) and they won't stop nipping at each other when they're in e same tank.
I can't tell their genders apart and thought it's probably a dominance play thing.
In such a case, does having more than 2 help to reduce the bickering?
Thank you in advance!

If you've learnt, teach, if you have, give.
Don't walk behind me as I might not lead, don't walk in front of me as I might not follow. Walk beside me, as my friend.

Thanks for your reply @BFG! Will give it a try!
These fishes have been quite an oddball- so shy yet pretty aggressive!
Providing an update in case it's useful for others-
It worked! Well, kinda.
I bought 2 more, so there are 4 of them in total now.
It's contrary to your recommendation of keeping it in odd numbers, but I was worried about one of them getting bullied and injured haha.
They're still chasing each other around now, but every time they do, they got chased by the others.
Eventually (when they get tired of it I guess), they settled together at the bottom of the aquarium and stopped fighting.
No visible injuries to their bodies, which is a significant improvement compared to when there was just the 2 of them.
I'm going to give week another week or so to see how well the situation improves.
Will eventually try to get another 1 to test the odd-number solution.
P.S. I seem to have 2 different species of Climbing Perches- 1 silver and the other golden. It is possible that it's an intra-species incompatibility there.
Not sure if there were different species being sold but mine partly turned jet black . Saw a specimen in some aquatic magazine from japan that turned jet black for the whole body .
