    Arrgghh!!!

I thought I had got rid of every last bit of it in my tank. Didn't see it for about a year already and suddenly, it's back and with a vengence.

Best of all, I didn't even plant riccia in my tank. A friend just "tompang" it in my tank for a few days.

    Sigh.....I give up...they win.

Anyone else with similar experience or tips on how to remove this pest?

    Cheers,
I have dwarf cichlids in my tanks! Do you?

Best proven method, changed the whole tank, gravel, plants and filter.
remember my 4ft riccia tank? they were still "lingering" in every nook and corner although I have tore down the riccia setup 4 months back. I had to change the old tank as the center bracing came loose last month. that was the last I saw any.

I lost too. the 3.5ft tank is still infected by Riccia after 2 upgrades (from 2ft, then 2.5ft, and then 3.5ft).

If there's something that can eat Riccia would be best.

wouldn't a 1 week total blackout kill it?

just take all your plants and put it in another tank. then black out that tank and make sure everything green is dead.

as for your existing plants, wash them with a hose one by one..

Empty the tank... completely. Scrub over with bleach.

Well, I used a piece of driftwood that was previously used to host riccia in my newt tank. I grew moss emersed on it where riccia used to be in a unfertilised, low light tank. Riccia suddenly bloomed out of the moss after about few months of dormancy.
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Vinz: too much work lah. I rather leave the Riccia in there as a CO2 indicator.

BTW - I try to reduce the Riccia during the weekly water changes by siphoning out whatever I can. Even though they are stuck among the Xmas Moss, the siphon can detach quite a fair amount of it.
