I would like to check how do people actually replace stemmed plants or actually any other plants that grew deep roots.

I set up my aquarium with ADA special powersand that have porous stones before laying ADA substrates on them.
When I wanted to replace some plants, the roots of those plants dragged those stones =(

Trimming stem plants and they will grow new ones at that section.

Ripping out the roots will disturb the substrate -> algae /ammonia spike.

My tank already going to be 4 year old next month. I've always done it this way. I wouldn't be too bothered.

So you just rip out the roots and disturb the substrate too? The pores of the stones made algae grow more =(
