Hi guys i bought a Hailea 300A chiller for my 6ft2x2 but im not sure its cooling is up to scratch. I only have around 100 gallons in the tank at the moment and have a Sunsun 5000 hooked up to it.

I house axolotls and need the temp to be 17-18 degrees but my hailea 300a sometimes takes like 3 hours to reach that temperature from 20 degrees. Is this normal?

I've cleaned out the dust filters and tried playing with the flow rate but doesn't seem to make much difference.

The chiller is positioned backwards so the fan is facing the front of an open cabinet with about 15cm of spacing on the sides and 20cm at the back.

its been running for about 3 or so months, would a full flush help get some of the grime out?

Any tips would be appreciated cheers.

It’s probably under sized. It’s rated for 300 litres but u have at least 400 litres? Also not sure if chillers are optimised to operate to cool till 18 degrees. My reef tank only cooled to 26 degrees.
