I was really going crazy with all sorts of converters for that calculation to conclude the gallons in my tank. Your little link saved me all the bother.
I now know that my precious Eheim cannister 2217 is the perfect one for the tank. I want a second filter and havezeroed in on a Skelter 400 hang on which has a in-built skimmer and two large compartments. Is there anybody in Sinagpore hwo will hunt this down for me? The American ones have the 110 volt motor whereas I require a 220/240 volt motor. What's the way out.
Help if you can. I am in Mumbai, India..

Welcome to the forum though How come you're not considering the Ehiem series?

Well, I liked what i saw on the net. This was one of the few hang on filters which also had a skimmer to boot. I don't thinkl Eheim has it...

Using the calculator, is it true for a tank of 24" x 12" x 12" (2ft tank) you need substrate depth of 172.8 lbs or est 72 kg material? did i get it right? (newbie learning new things everyday ) wow...

    Another general conversion site http://www.onlineconversion.com/

If you plan to fill up your substrate to 12" high, then you need 172.8 lb of material.

However, normally, we only fill the substrate for 2" high. In this case, you only need 28.8 lbs.

    Hope this useful..
