    Hi bros,

Sorry but I got a whitespot infestation with my rummy-nose tetras and a velvet infection with some of my panda corys both in the same tank!

I used protozin from teh waterlife products and have followed the 3 day dosage recommended but the whitespot doesn't seem to be coming off. (just completed day 3 of the course)

anyone know how long you should normally wait before declaring the treatment a failure and trying something else?

Also is whitespot and velvet water disease or fish disease?

thanks for any words of advice!

Re: Whitespot treatment and recovery time?

    Ok now I'm doubly worried.

Based on this guys picture of his fish. My fish have small white dots but not the clamped fins. Also, the white dots on his fish seem to be much smaller and more numerous. But I'm having a hard time determining size of scale since my white dots are all on one rummy nose who won't sit still for a picture. (disobedient waif)

Still, the infection is clearly not as numerous as this guy's. I'll try and maintain the dosage regime for 2 weeks and see what happens. Hope it doesn't kill the shrimp.

    Thanks!

Be it medication or heat treatment - your shrimps will still die. Sorry.

For this reason, always, always quarantine your fishes before introduction to your 'show' tank.

Hrmm going on Day 4 of dosing the tank with Protozin, the whitespots are getting fainter but so far I've been very luck with no deaths of the Cherry shrimp yet. Maybe I've got a good batch of tough little inverts.
