    Hi

After I wash my filter, I am unable to prime my filter. The inlet doesnt seems to have any suction at all during priming. Even when I fit a handpump at the outlet to suck out the air, I cant seems to get suction at the inlet. Can anyone advise???

    Thanks!

I'm just throwing possibilities in the air...

First, does the hand pump inflate immediately after you let go? If it has a hard time sucking, then something is choking the system or maybe you forgot to open a valve. If it does not then either your inlet is not underwater, or there is a leak somewhere.

    - Is it sealed properly? Check that the rubber seal is still in place.
    - Are the rubbder seals between the trays placed correctly?
    - Actually, check all the rubber seals at all the connections.
    - Is inlet/outlet pipes re-attached to the filter correctly?
    - Is the inlet and outlet correct? I.e did you connect them back opposite when you re-assembled?

    Try this...
    1. detach the inlet hose
    2. close the valve at the end of it
    3. fill it with water
    4. re-attach the inlet hose, making sure the inlet i in place and under s under water.
    5. open the valve

If you filter is lower then your tank, water should flow down and start the filling the filter. In case there is a leak in your filter, place a basin or tray under the filter, and watch the filter until the priming is complete. If it starts to leak, immediately close the valve.

Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

WilliamNg, did you fill the canister with water before priming the canister? On the other hand, if you are somehow not comfortable or stressful of using the priming mechanism of the 2028, you could get the Installation set. It eliminate the priming function via an opening in the 'J' tube pipes. After cleaning the canister, just hook it back to the tubing. Instead of priming, you just need to unscrew a cap on the new 'J' tube pipes of the Installation set and fill it with water. Once done, just switch on the filter! It's very simple and easy that both of my parent's fish tank has been installed with it.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi

No, I did not fill cannister with water. 1 funny thing is that there is totally no suction at the inlet. Sometime which I never encounter before, even when the cannister is used for the 1st time. What is the J valve? Where can I get it.

    BFG,
What is this 'Installation set' thing ? Seems like a gadget to have. Do you have a photo of it ?

WilliamNg, the 'J' pipes are those green plastic tubing that look like the letter 'J' that comes together with your canister filter.

Green Baron, I am sorry but I do not own a DC so I can't provide a picture for you. You could view the product at an lfs though. Cost nearly $35 and it comes in 2 sizes to complement 2 sizes of rubber hose that Eheim has.

    Guys

Confirm it is the filter problem. The o-ring wear out already. Send it back for repair and it comes back working better than before.
