    Hi,
I have lots of hair glass in my tank, and they are growing very well. I have base fertilizer and also dose the tank with liquid fertilizer every 3-4 days.
    CO2 and lights also.

They will start growing and multiplying after a few weeks. Initially, when you first plant them, nothing seems to happen.

But now, they are growing very healthy and bubbling. The only problem is algae growing at the bottom of the bunch in some areas of the tank.

    Hi Planter,
Maybe you could elaborate alittle bit on your set up.IE, lighting, Substrate, Co2, fertiliser & water. Hairgrass is not really demanding maybe something is wrong somewhere.I had some growing even in crush coral chips as substrate.

PS: Co2 is a must for this plant.
Something about the water & the fishes that calms me down.

Planter: How's your lighting? I find they need good amounts of it to grow well. Any pics of your tank and the hair grass?

Planter: Nice tank! Don't look like having problems to me.
The hair grass looks neat and is covering the foreground well. Don't look like dying off. BTW - do you ever trim the hair grass?

What exactly are you dosing the tank with? (Dr Mallick has a range of products..not sure which you are using though.) The frequency of the dosage? How much are you dosing? What kind of NO3 kit are you using? How much water change are you performing weekly?

Planter, you only need to dose the KNO3, KH2PO4 and micros. CO2 is your biggest issue as far as I can see. Nothing is working well now due to your CO2 issue. Once you get it over with, you will see a mark improvement in plant growth.

    I'll suggest the following...
1)Trim away the dead looking leaves..no point keeping them.
    2)Clean the filter and glass
    3)Do a large 50% water change
    4)Add 1 teaspoon of KNO3 2x a week
    5)Add 1/8 teaspoon of KH2PO4 2x a week
    6)Add 20ml of micros 2-3x a week
7)Review your CO2 for a day or so. Make sure it stays around 25-35ppm throughout the photoperiod. Consider adding a piece of riccia rock to the tank which is visible to you and note if it pearls about 1/2 way through the photoperiod. The riccia should respond and pearl well if the CO2 is indeed what it is measuring. If not, add a bit more incremently and observe for a day or two before making changes again. Make sure the critters are not stress when you do this.

    Regards

Thanks Bro for your suggestion. I too have a riccia ball in my tank, they pearl like mad during the photo period. I doubt Co2 is the reason for the hair grass to turn brown. I actually use the PH & KH table as a guide for my Co2. I have a KH about 3-4 dkh and my PH is about 6.6 so i will have about 22-30ppm of Co2. I think that should be enough right? These are my school of thoughts, so please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks

Well, you stated the range of 6.6-6.8 though. With a KH of 3-4 at that range, you are running low sometimes. If its a nutrients issue, doing it 2x a week instead of once a week should improve things.

Want to check with you if the HG turns brown when you trim them. If the grass blade were to be cut, it will start to turn brown and die, right?
