Not sure this was posted before.
When we add dechlorinator to tap water with chloramine, the chlorine is removed, leaving behind the ammonia (in the safe for livestock form ya?).
This ammonia would then be converted to nitrates by our bacteria in the filter.

My question is:
1. Does this mean we are still always eventually "adding" nitrates to our tank, on top of the nitrates generated by the fishes?
2. When we do water changes, we think we are removing nitrates. But if point 1 is true, does it mean water changes does not actually help to remove nitrates??
