Probably us... we used to have one but we haven't migrated it over yet.

Anyway the formula for cost is:
((Total light wattage x No of hours they are on) / 1000) x $0.17

$0.17 is the cost per kilo-Watt-Hour in Singapore if I recall correctly. It's in your monthly electric bill somewhere.

So, if you have 2x36W lights on for 10 hrs a day, then in one month it will cost you:

    ((2 x 36W x 10Hrs x 30) / 1000) x $0.17 = $3.67 (approx)
Vincent - AQ is for everyone, but not for 'u' and 'mi'.
Why use punctuation? See what a difference it makes:
A woman, without her man, is nothing.
A woman: without her, man is nothing.

Very useful indeed and the electricity bill for planted tank seems 'bearable'.
Just received this month utilities bill (dated May 15, 2005), the updated rate is S$0.1606/kWh.

Try calculating your water costs... it's even more bearable.

    Hello Taz_boy,

The formula are almost the same as what Vinz posted earlier, except the $$ rate is 1.17 per cubic metre and instead of hours, use frequency of water changes. I have managed to trim down the spreadsheet I use and zip it so it just squeezed inside the 97k up limitation.

I a cut and pasted from the PUB web site the water characteristics, link attached inside the tab. You will also find a tab for CO2 etc

At least now I can let my mum knows that my lights is not the reason for the high electricity bill.
