i like the olden type of green arowana. those with silverish base(silver scales) and quite different from the current green(green on scales).. remember they cost 100+ when i was age of around 13....
Too much of a fish SIAO to quit fish keeping/fishing..

I posted a comment on that article, with links to PFK's anti dyed fish campaign. Hope that at least some people take the time to read and understand why such dyeing and tattooing is cruel.

It seems like dyed glassfish are still much more common than those without any disgusting fluorescent injections. In the last 2 weeks, I've seen tattooed mollies at Rainbow Aquarium in Sungei Tengah and Aqua Star in Yishun; dyed albino black widow tetras, blood parrots and flowerhorn still remain relatively common in many LFS, I'm afraid.

We can do our part to educate the public, but I wish AVA would just step in and put a stop to such an abhorrent practice.

Someone made a comment on the STOMP article:

Its not a tattoo...Do you really believe a fish could survived being tattooed? Its a cross breeding process that makes a heart shape...

Update: SPCA has requested for AVA to ban tattooing of fishes

I was wondering if it might be possible for fishkeeping communities to show their support for SPCA's request in some way.

Saw this the other night at Y618 as well. Really wonder what is the use of even dying that little spot of blue to an already attractive fish.... :/

Re: Dyed and injected fish again!

Dying the fish in different colors is to attract the more common consumers who do not know that the fish looks different because it is dyed. People like AQ members would probably never buy it.
I think it is really a malpractice that should be stopped.

This is the first I have heard of this...... I immediately went to my LPS to talk with my friend who is the manager. He only had this to say........ "This store will NEVER buy into anything that will effect the well being of perfectly innocent animals, that are beautiful just the way they are." Makes me a very proud customer.

Surely there is a way to get this out there easier, and more efficiently. Facebook these horrible actions, get the word out through social media. The only way to end this is to hault all sales.

It amazes me the pathetically cruel things that people do just to get a look.

(Sorry things like this "P" me off. I cant even stand cropped tails/ears on dogs. I don't care the reasoning behind the procedure. If its not broke dont fix it. The majority of dogs subject to this cruel procedure are NEVER going to be used for the purpose they were breed for. Why cause the extra distress to poor little puppies?)

Re: Dyed and injected fish again!

Nowadays do people even buy these? Most people are shifting towards biotope-ish tanks nowadays and I don't see why that is not the way to go. Since I live in serangoon north, there are 5 fish stores in the vicinity and I see that their sales of blood parrots definitely do not surpass that of plants and tetras or other species. As that in petsmart, the blood parrots sit there for a long time as well... But indeed such practice of the dying is bad and should stop, if demand dies, production too... More people needs to know about this...

What? This is unreasonable.. This has to stop and In order to stop word must be spread so that people stop buying them. Once demand is down they will not find any reason to continue selling and producing them
